The Hibernia Centre, Bristol

Irish Music and Arts

The Hibernia Centre is based at two halls - St. Andrew's Church Hall and the Community Centre in Avonmouth. Click here for a map of the area.

Come along to learn Irish fiddle, flute/whistle, bodhran, Irish dancing, singing, language, and organised guesting workshops.

In a fast changing world, we will drag anchor and try to provide you with a gentler pace of change. Our aspirations and the reason for our existence are still the same - we still welcome complete beginners in any discipline and new teachers can come in and 'guest' before rambling off. We are enhancing our repertoire - if you want to learn the guitar or Irish language, well come on over...other ideas to follow. Many friends of Hibernia have made lots of new friends and in a small way, it is beginning to make the coterie of 'Irish-interested' people in Bristol more cohesive and integrated. And isn't dat a fine ting too. It's down to you to invest a little time in Hibernia - come in for the craic and we think you will enjoy it, spread the word and help make us better.

The Hibernia Centre - what's it all about? It's a simple concept - if you are interested in learning Traditional Irish Music, Dance, Bodhran or Language and sharing friendship with people of like mind with no airs and graces, no fuss nor pretentions, chances are that you have come to the right place. Generosity of spirit is a big part in all we do - all activities are as affordable as we can possibly make them - the teachers teach for love of their work, not for money and all we ask in return is that you might reciprocate this generosity in your dealing with us in ways that you can. Having got this far and still being interested, it's likely you are one of our target audience - so come and join us and brighten up our day!
